Cascades Casino Delta Welcomes Casino Patrons in Late 2020, Possibly Cashless

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment is making real progress with its future Delta casino venue and the latest announcement comes to prove that. The casino operator is willing to see the official launch of the casino venue sometime in October or November 2020. Construction on site is about to commence promptly and guarantee timely execution of the plan for action.

The casino venue everyone is talking about is Cascades Casino Delta, as it could bring a groundbreaking approach towards brick-and-mortar casino gaming in British Columbia and Canada in general. Due to its proximity to supposed money laundering hotspots such as Richmond, the Ladner location could become the first cashless casino venue on a national level. The CA$70-million project is about to bring premium gaming to the area and guarantee excellent experience.

Casino Operation Starts Next Fall

The casino project has been initially announced in the fall of 2018, as Gateway Casinos pinpointed the preferred location for development. Ever since then, the area has been weighing the pros and cons of future development especially in the light of the recent revelations connected with the gaming field and the housing market of British Columbia.

The recently issued Maureen Maloney report focusing on the real estate market of the province showcased that the province has been able to wash some CA$7.4 billion of dirty cash within 2018 solely, with CA$2 billion laundered by the local gaming field. This means that any new casino venues that would launch operation in the foreseeable future have to be fortified against the criminal practice. This report also prompted a public inquiry.

This could happen with the help of the new cashless system that would eliminate the use of banknotes on site of the gaming venue. Instead, all casino patrons would use their own accounts and gamble without the need to have cash money in their possession. Delta Mayor George Harvie is an avid supporter of this approach ever since he was still a candidate for the leading role.

Casino Venue Might Be Cashless

Back in February, he launched a campaign towards educating Ottawa officials on the benefits of a cashless casino venue not only in British Columbia but also across the country. A special delegation made its way to Ottawa and had a thorough conversation about the concerns Delta officials have when it comes to the Richmond model of money laundering. Mayor Harvie claimed that this would mean Delta regains control over the situation.

The new casino venue is going to be located at the junction of highways 17A and 99 where Delta Town and Country Inn used to rise. The accommodation location was demolished recently, making way for the new casino complex. Among the offerings available on site there would be a gaming floor with 500 slot machines and 24 gaming tables. The number of slots could be increased following further market assessment.

Three dining offerings are going to spice up the location – Match Eatery and Public House, Atlas Steak + Fish, and the signature casino buffet. However, it was confirmed that for the time being the project does not include a music area or a sports betting lounge. Nevertheless, the gaming venue is projected to bring gaming revenue reaching up to CA$3 million per year.
